The Legend of Zelda

The Legend of Zelda is a game icon, one of the world’s most influential games and one of Nintendo’s oldest and most successful game franchises. The first ever Legend of Zelda game was released on the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1986 and has since seen 18 new game releases. The most iconic being the 1998 classic The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time which took the franchise 3D and was a huge success for Nintendo's N64 console. The games usually follow a very similar plot with reoccurring themes. The player plays as the hero known as Link and must guide him on his quest to save the fictional Land of Hyrule and often its Princess, Zelda. To aid him he has a range of weapons and items the most well-known of which being The Master Sword. One of the most essential and legendary items in the lore of Hyrule is the existence of the Triforce, an artefact which gives its owner unimaginable power. The image of the Triforce is one of the most iconic in gaming history. The Legend of Zelda franchise continues to be one of the most popular gaming titles in the world with a vast and loyal fan base. With future games planned, Zelda looks set to inspire old and new fans for years to come.
