The Matrix

Thomas Anderson, a computer programmer, is led to fight an underground war against powerful computers who have constructed his entire reality with a system called the Matrix. The Matrix is a simulation created by scientists in order to pacify and subdue the human population with their bodies heat and electrical activity to use as energy sources.  The 1999 revolutionary sci-fi movie became popular due to the idea that reality is an illusion and that some essential truth is being covered up.
